BONDEX is a polyamine sealer designed to strengthen, and seal porous surfaces and as a sealer/primer for prepared concrete surfaces. On steel surfaces it is recommended for areas where, due to restrictions or economics, blasting or thorough hand preparation is not feasible.

BONDEX is a premium quality, 100% solids epoxy primer with low viscosity and is designed for application at low film thickness. Provides exceptional bond with a mandatory application of silica sand bed (silica sand #50/140).

DESCRIPTION

BONDEX Surface Tolerant Epoxy Primer is a polyamine sealer designed to strengthen, and seal porous surfaces and as a sealer/primer for prepared concrete surfaces. On steel surfaces it is recommended for areas where, due to restrictions or economics, blasting or thorough hand preparation is not feasible. BONDEX provides a base coat or seal coat on new or properly prepared old concrete surfaces for application of a coating system. It is an excellent sealer for encapsulations of old coatings where removal is not feasible or for aged “white rusted” zincs rich coated surfaces. BONDEX is 100% solids with a very low viscosity and is designed for application at low film thickness. It will not shrink upon curing. BONDEX provides excellent substrate wetting and can be top coated with a wide variety of coatings such as alkyds, silicone alkyds, epoxies, epoxy esters, phenolics, acrylics, and urethanes. In addition, it can be broadcast with aggregate as a binder resin system.

WHERE TO USE

Excellent primer for encapsulations of old coatings where removal is not feasible or for aged “white rusted” zincs rich coated surfaces.

APPLICATION

MIXING AND APPLICATION

Material should be pre-conditioned to a minimum of 50˚F (10˚C) prior to use. The material temperature must be brought to 5°F above the dew point temperature. Relative humidity should be below 75%.
Mix one part A with one part B with a low speed mixer for one minute.
Apply with a 3/8” nap roller at a spread rate of 125 square feet per gallon. This will yield 7 mils. Spread silica sand by hand until you can not see the bright of the BONDEX applied. All parts of the floor should be covered by silica sand.

NOTE: At higher temperatures, the working time will be reduced. Mix as much as can be used by the applicator.

LIMITATIONS
Apply in good weather when air and surface temperature are above 50F and surface temperature is at least 5F above the dew point. For optimum application properties, material should be between 70F and 100F prior to mixing and application.
Maintain unmixed material in closed containers in protected storage at 40F to 100F.

EXPANSION AND CONTROL JOINTS

Provide for expansion and control joints as specified per TCNA Method EJ171 or per TTMAC Specification Guide 09 30 00, Detail 301MJ. Do not cover expansion joints with cement mortar.
Protect POLICRETE work with metal strips (edge metal) along both edges of structural building expansion joints.
Protect the installation from foot traffic, rain and freezing for 24 hours.
Protect the installed BONDEX from contamination, excessive heat and extended sun exposure until the finish flooring is installed.

WARNING

WARNING: Keep away from sparks, heat, and open flame. Use with adequate ventilation. Prolonged or repeated breathing vapor or spray mist can cause headache, nausea, dizziness or confusion. This product can be harmful if inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin.

HAZARDS: Avoid breathing vapor, spray mist or contact with the skin. Use only with adequate ventilation during mixing, application and drying. Use face protection, gloves and full protective clothing to prevent contact. Wear appropriate self-contained respiratory equipment when handling. Use only with recommended thinners and cleaners. Keep away from heat, sparks, arc, and open flame.

FIRST AID: In case of contact with skin, flush with water and get immediately medical attention. For eyes, immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get immediately medical attention. In case of exposure of high concentrations of fumes, remove to fresh air and get immediately medical attention. If swallowed, get immediately medical attention. Do not induce vomiting. See product material safety data sheet for further details on contents and procedures to follow.

PRECAUTIONS: Improper use and handling of this product can be hazardous to health or cause a fire. Consult all Federal Regulations concerning occupational safety and health standards and any other applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations on safety practices in coatings operations. Necessary safety equipment must be used, and proper ventilation requirements carefully observed, especially in confined or enclosed spaces to prevent build-up of vapors.

SPILLAGE: Extinguish all sources of ignition. Use absorbent cleanup materials. Prevent from entering sewers or waterways.

FIRE: Blanket flames with dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or foam. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

STORAGE & DISPOSABLE: Store in cool, well, ventilated area. Keep containers closed and upright when not in use to prevent leakage. Dispose of in separate closed metal container in accordance with all applicable regulations.

CLEAN UP: Clean up the equipment with xylene, alcohol or other environmentally safe solvent. Dispose of waste solvent according to local environmental regulations. CAUTION: These solvents may be flammable. Keep away from all sources of ignition. Clean skin with soap and warm water. Do not use abrasive cleaners which may cause irritation.
